Danganronpa 2x2 Which Platform Should You Buy?
Answer the questions, then stop refreshing store pages.
Use this picker after you have read the raw table on platforms. It is the same facts, arranged as a flowchart in prose.
Question 1 — Do you want 4K 60?
Yes. PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X (or a PC that meets recommended specs). HDR is still off on the official grid, so you are paying for resolution and a locked 60, not cinematic HDR.
No / I want handheld. Continue.
Question 2 — Handheld on Nintendo hardware?
I own Switch 2 and want the new SKU. Buy Switch 2. Docked and handheld are both 1080p targets at 30–60. Accept the Game-Key Card if you wanted a fat cartridge. Accept that this save will never legally wander onto a Switch 1.
I own Switch 2 but might sell it. Buy the Switch 1 version. It is playable on Switch 2 via backward compatibility. You keep a copy that still works if the new handheld leaves the house. You lose the Switch 2-native SKU’s data-size/feature row, and you still cannot convert that save into a Switch 2 SKU later.
I only own Switch 1. Buy Switch. Handheld is 720p. Docked 1080p. 30–60. Fine for a novel. The 3D world map will look softer than a PS5 beach.
Question 3 — PC?
Buy Steam or Epic if:
- You want a mouse (officially supported).
- You already live in a chair in front of a 4070.
- You can spare 40 GB and, for recommended settings, 32 GB RAM.
Do not buy PC if your laptop is an 8 GB Windows 11 machine you also use for 40 Chrome tabs. That is the published minimum, not a comfort zone.
Epic versus Steam is storefront preference plus the Vacation Package Steam card. If you are getting the Package, the printed key is Steam, not Epic.
Question 4 — Xbox without a Series X?
Series S is 1080p 60 on the official table. That is a valid, cheaper 60 fps box. It is not 4K. If you already have Game Pass hardware in the house, wait to see whether 2x2 joins a subscription — nothing announced — and otherwise buy Standard on the Xbox Store.
Question 5 — Will anyone else play this save?
No couch second player. Player count is 1. “Sharing” means passing the whole console or using whatever account-sharing your platform allows. Joy-Con sharing is listed as unsupported. Do not buy two copies because you thought trials were local versus.
Kill-criteria (walk away from a listing)
- It says PS4 or Xbox One.
- It says Roblox.
- It promises Switch 1 ↔ Switch 2 save move.
- It uses the 2016 Goodbye Despair capsule art and a $19.99 tag. That is the old port.
- It is a key site with a 2x2 trailer thumbnail and a $9.99 “premium currency pack.”

Can I upgrade a Switch save later?

It is 1080p 60, not 4K. Fine for reading. Buy it if that is the box you own, not if you were promised 4K.
